About Me
- Richard Shilling
- I make sculptures from natural materials, gathered near to where each sculpture is made. Every sculpture is photographed in natural light, using normal camera equipment and without any photoshop trickery. Each photo accurately depicts how each sculpture appeared, at its most vibrant moment, before the elements reclaim the materials back to nature. I am trying to explore themes to do with time, ecology and the constant flux of the seasons and express these ideas through my land art images.

Hello Richard,
Love the pyramids and caged rocks! And this first photo of the Sun God Cairn with the light flashing behind it. (But I got a bit of a twinge in my chest when I saw your dismantled farewell cairn.)
I showed my students your site and read part of your essay to them but have received only mediocre responses. Everyone seems so caught up in the heart-shaped inspiration of the day. Oh, well. There will be different inspirations the next time I teach this class in the fall.
